The more you contribute the more you are ranked and rated. The higher the rank, the higher the bounty, but ideas must be judged as ideas, not by whom them came from.

Wht not just offer more money. Why do you want to segregate our small community. Offering more money will certainly attract more ideas. Aren't we all in this together? I thought that the purpose of BS was to help each other and stick together. Also their is a problem with people being able to vote for themselves that you might want to address. fyi

Top 10% and Top 1% is too restrictive unless you have thousands people as potential responders. I only respond to question that intrigue me and I assume others do the same. If you have 1000 potential responders, then 1% is 10 people and only 3 may have the time or interest to participate. Higher Bounty questions are probably going to be more specialized in nature, which will reduce the number of responders despite the higher Bounty.

Looking over the replies so far, it appears there are some very good ideas for added features. I feel that this new idea of "Experts" and "Elites" is great. I find it difficult sometimes to dedicate time to the bounty storms even thought they are pretty quick and easy to enter. I would recommend a feature where our suggestions could be posted on our FaceBook and other social networks to not only promote Bounty Storms but get our ideas out there as well.

A Random Prize +2.70

In addition to the top 3 ideas winning bounties, award a "random" prize. This added incentive will encourage more contributions. It's all about scalability. Users who don't know much about a topic may not feel it's worth contributing because they aren't confident they'll place in the top 3. However, a random prize might be the tipping point. EXTRA: The random prize could even be a product placement from an e-commerce store or just straight up $$$...

Instead of just voting for your favorite ideas, it should also be possible to vote down ideas that you consider frivoulous, useless, or downright bad. This will discourage people from posting ideas just to increase their ranking score, and from participating in brainstorms that they don't really have ideas for. In other words, it will encourage people to only post ideas they're serious about.

Votes aren't actually cast until you hit a "submit" button +2.96

Voting should be a little more flexible, maybe by including a "submit" or "save" button. Instead of making a vote irrevocable once it is submitted, there should be a way to change your vote for some period of time after casting it. Perhaps checkboxes that would let you select up to a certain number, then hit a "submit" button when you had arrived at the configuration of votes you wanted to submit. It would be OK to submit additional votes after saving, but you would no longer be able to revoke your previous set of votes. Or, you could just make them changeable until the voting period was over!

Much like Amazon.com reviewers can earn "top 500" and "top 100" etc. ratings based on how many reviews they've posted and how much positive feedback they've received for their reviews, Bounty Storms can rate members based on both how many ideas they've suggested, how many Brainstorms they've participated in, and how many times their ideas have been voted for. Including area of expertise in rankings sounds like a good idea at first, but since the whole point is getting a novel and creative point of view, I think it shouldn't be included. Ranking members is a great idea, and it should be based on number of suggestions, number of brainstorms participated in, and number of votes cast for that member's ideas. This preserves the core idea that the crowd's collective thinking will lead to the best result.

I believe in value given for what is received. I doubt if one group of randomly chosen folks will all be worth $500. It would depend on the individuals actual background in any Bounty Storms. You would need to have surveys given to the participants to qualify them Or have the participants be able to go out and actually contact experts in the field needed. Sounds like fun!

For example, you have a bounty on names for events. You could find different individuals or companies that specialize in PR, Graphics etc and offer them the opportunity to participate. Thereby winner getting recognition as well as a larger bounty than $2. I am trying to include more authorities in the field questions are being asked. However, if you just want to know how one shops, I think $2 is fair. It is an exchange of fair value for expertise given.

Who wouldn't? But, you would have to screen participants according to type of knowledge or background required for this. You already do not seem to have enough participants, are you ready for this? Or will you advertise for more to be involved?

Great idea for the rankings. How about categories for storms like: naming, consumer feedback, new ideas, writing, for fun, etc. This way, we could subscribe to email alerts about the our favorite categories. Also, I agree that seeing the submitters' favorite idea would be cool too.

Will we all have point systems to show how we fare? Will there be a leaderboard? I can something like that adding more excitement to the website. Example: I would think point should be assigned by the poster of the brainstorm and the voting mass, with a 50 - 50 weight.

for example is the submitter seeking: - a name - a one word name - a plain english name or an abstract name - words to avoid in the name - a tagline - a title - a domain name - how much willing to spend on a domain name? - etc. this would narrow the submissions and result in more ideal suggestions.
