When you eat food grown with pesticides or GMOs you are buying and voting for poisen to be spread on the earth. Monsanto and Dow Chemical are the main sources of poisen, it is their business. Stop buying their products and you will see a big difference in the health of plants, animals and the Earth.

I believe that dont have ONE suggestion to make things different, but a group of them. I can imagine it as a little tag in shirts, shoes, furniture, walls, ever remembering us to do: 1 - Save water, turn off when dont using 2 - Save eletricity, turn off lamps and "stand by" systems 3 - Dont use plastic bags. Prefer paper or natural textiles bags 4 - Classify the waste: metal, plastic, organic and send to recycling 5 - Eat more vegetables: cattle produces a lot of methano everyday and processed food spend a lot of energy and causes many pollution till arrives in your table. 6 - Reuse: Many old furniture, clothes, metal pieces can become decoration or used to original things. 7 - Transport: use more coletive transport, bicicles and shoes or electrical-motorized alternatives 8 (and last!) - Spread these ideas!

When driving, try to plan your route so that you replace left turns with right turns. This can reduce idling time, since right turns can be performed at a red light.

Instead of spending your money on new decor items, use found objects in novel ways (think Shabby Chic style). or Use existing items in craft and decor projects. How can you use items you'd recycle or throw away to make other fun items? Cardboard furniture? Bottlecap necklaces? Light up Christmas "snowballs" made out of clear plastic cups? When you come up for novel uses for items you'd otherwise throw away, you're extending their useful life!

When using the toilet, follow this simple rule of thumb to help save water and our planet: If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down.

Considering all factors involved in raising cattle and delivering beef to the dinner plate, the production of beef produces more global warming gasses than vehicles or industry. If everyone simply cut their consumption of beef in half (not chicken, not pork...just beef), it would do significantly more to stop climate change than any other initiative ever proposed or enacted. http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=the-greenhouse-hamburger

I looked into ways I could do the same thing. I'm not an environmentalist at all, but found vermiculture (yes, having a compost pile that has worms in it) to be amazingly easy. You can throw 100% of your vegetable waste in there and it turns into great soil. People are grossed out by worms, but seriously they are very clean and the compost bin does not smell at all (versus traditional composting) and can be very small and even indoors.
