Like a chant at a rally, or the "Serenity Now" line from Seinfeld. We demand access you give it to us. Imagine the crowd of stampeding activists with banners and bullhorns shouting "Access Now" - then the computer guy steps up and quietly says "here you go" and hands them a laptop already hooked into the net.

Along the same lines as Hello - only in a more nautical strain. Probably not good for the midwestern set.

I just like the sound of that. We off the beaten path of WiFi, ethernet and etc. In fact, I think the same guys who came up with the term HiFi invented the term WiFi - it was old before it even sarted into use. Go with something completely different...
Suggested by John using Word Atoms "nearby" and "Arrrgh"

Direct thievery of William Gibson's ideas. They did it with the Matrix, why not use it to describe the kind of access that Gibson's been writing about for 25 years? You got a computer, who needs cables or a modem. Just turn it on, connect and surf.

This is friendly and connotes a connection with others, which is the biggest use of the internet it seems. Exclamation point makes it noticeable and exciting.

Sticking with symbolism - what's the symbol for air from "The Fifth Element"? ~ Only multiple lines stacked one above the other - say three or four. In an area with weak service you put one or two. Five is the highest. Add on the "AirFi" and you imply it's free - like air. and like SmiFi it gives you an address to type. I'm liking this...

Smiley Face - SmiFi +3.87

Call that credit union in Seattle the invented the Smiley Face. Get them to license it to you for commercial use. You want something new - go wit the non-word program. Think of how ubiquitous you can make something like that. Just add a little something to it - an antenna, "SmiFi", or some other equally recognizable symbol that let's people know they can connect right there.

In the history of physics, Ether was the hypothetical substance through which electromagnetic waves travel. The Ether formed stationary frame of reference, which was rigid to electromagnetic waves but completely permeable to matter. Since the web has no physical existence, the term EtherLife seems appropriate.
